Welcome to the official Web site of the h264enc script for Linux. A shell script front-end for MEncoder which makes it easy to encode DVDs, Blu-rays, (S)VCDs or video files to the H.264/AVC/MPEG-4 Part 10 video format using MEncoder from the MPlayer project. Here you can find more information about h264enc and the features it supports as well as a FAQ/Doc on various issues.

If you are looking for something to encode to Xvid video, then visit my xvidenc project or divxenc for encoding to FMP4/DivX. For batch encoding of audio, check out audenc. For encoding to DVD, try out file2dvd.

h264enc is no longer actively developed and is in maintenance mode. This means that only (reported) bugs are fixed and all other development has stopped. Please try out the scripts below.

h264enc is succeeded by the following scripts: ffx264, ffhevc and ffxvid.
